This book, this series is a prison, the one I've willingly walked into. Wherever Mare looks, she's faced with betrayal, hurt, loss and despair. It's not even YA at this point, it's a very adult fantasy with a massive trauma dump

My poor Cal. Yes, he made so many wrong decisions but it was because of his father. Now that his father's dead, his brother's betrayed him and he is labelled a traitorous prince, he has nothing to live and hope for. Except Mare.
