This book, this series is a prison, the one I've willingly walked into. Wherever Mare looks, she's faced with betrayal, hurt, loss and despair. It's not even YA at this point, it's a very adult fantasy with a massive trauma dump

Hearing this from Cal, gosh, true, he's killed people, he knows thousand ways to kill a person but he's never been the violent type, he's never enjoyed killing people. That rage, that hatred in his heart was planted by Maven and snake Elara

My poor Cal. Yes, he made so many wrong decisions but it was because of his father. Now that his father's dead, his brother's betrayed him and he is labelled a traitorous prince, he has nothing to live and hope for. Except Mare. The girl who's used him, lied to him and betrayed him many times, the girl he truly loves. He still listens to her, does as she says and even agreed to imprisonment. Can he catch a break???
