okay i’m a little sick of Dmity. I’m definitely still loving the book overall, but dear god he is insufferable. I’m looking forward to going back to Aleksey and Ivan.

now over, OVER 50% of the way through and the blurb event still hasn’t happened 👀👀 like i’m not mad at it, i’m enjoying it despite this, but still!!!

okay i get it. i genuinely get it. this book is an absolute masterclass in writing. absolutely captivating. am i 400+ pages in and the event on the back page has not yet occurred? is the plot glacial? yes. do i care anymore: not really.

also: i did not expect to be absolutely ✨ENTHRALLED✨ by ~40+ pages of Ivan monologuing on society and religion! how??
HOW!!! did that manage to be as captivating as it was??????

so i’m 100% still loving this … but … why am i 300 pages in … and the main absolutely MAJOR event from the back blurb still hasn’t happened?????
