One chapter in and I hate this book! 😂 The narrator’s breathless prose of run-on sentences is virtually impossible for me to comprehend. I’m going to give it one more chapter and then I’ll decide whether to DNF 🥴
The best bit so far was on pg11 describing a stew - ‘steaming like fresh horse dung on a cold morning’. How revolting! 🤢

My lack of understanding of so many words (and French phrases) keeps taking me out of the story. Although I haven’t ‘found’ the story yet, hence the benefit of the doubt with just one more chapter. I’m not holding my breath though, it’s very likely getting dumped! 🤦🏻♀️
Kirsty wrote: "Ive always been a bit underwhelmed by his writing and its scrapped a 3/5 out of me twice."It feels so pretentious already, and I don’t know if that’s the author purposely making his main character come across that way or whether he himself is a snobbish, conceited type who loves the sound of his own voice! I’m thinking the latter 🤔 I’ll give it a few more pages, if I can stand it!
