Taking a break because I’m not vibing and I wanna give this book a more fair shot

inching along like a little .... inch worm, I guess. Man, I can't DNF because if I'm gonna dare to be a Karen Russell hater, you better believe I'm going to be an INFORMED Karen Russell hater. Right now: too much basketball, too many metaphors and similes, and too much dust. (the last one is a joke, obvs).

I realized the reason why I am inching through this book is that while I like the sentences, I hate the paragraphs. I might not go so far as to call the prose purple, but it sure doesn’t let up. Karen loves a simile and metaphor stacked and restacked but for me it’s like wading through molasses. I need some simple, straight forward sentences pls 😭

I am so sad wtf
