I’m also thinking there’s a literary device in drama that isn’t present in other mediums about suspension of disbelief and the carriage (?) that liveness and visual setting can impart.

Genesis and Eva have me going to a lot of plays lately. But what I didn’t expect is the device present in plays where the stage directions and scene descriptions are absolutely gorgeous and stunning because they are meant to only do expository work rather than like introduce any characters.
