Well this just throws you right in, doesn’t it? Not really sure where it’s going yet, but it’s interesting. The Romans using Greek gods names instead of the Latinized versions is a bit distracting, won’t lie.

I mean pacing issues aside, I really enjoyed it. I saw another reviewer say this feels like a prologue novel and while I can see where they’re coming from… I still liked it. It’s also establishing an entire alternate history so I’m fine to give it leeway. And the ideas in this are so fun, resurrecting ancient heroes, demonic sorcerers, ancient cultures and civilizations. All things I enjoy. Onto the next.

Something tells me Dahak is at the heart of every woe that has happened before this terrible war. Ugh. Bastard.

Yeah killing that fire was a mistake. But we saw the curse at work Dwyrin wanted to say no but physically could not. Crazy.

Oh so Alais was literally some kind of vampire. Interesting. Too greedy for her own good. Oh god we’re almost at the end and not one thread has been tied off. This will be… an interesting end.

Yeah Palmyra is screwed. Shit. But I think Persia is fucked also. But we’ll see, sooner or later. Shame about Ahmet.

Oh this is getting good. And now Maxian wants to resurrect Alexander the Great. That should be fun! Im interested to see how this great battle in Persia ends. Damn.
