So the next one now openly said they are rejecting financial planning and instead are having kids when they clearly can’t afford them. It’s a very parent-centric book, which, I guess, it proclaimed to be. I find the lack of nuance in child well-being horrifying so far.

problematic so far, mother of 5 young kids saying something along the lines of "I hear parents say 'I just want my kids to be happy' - screw that, they are in charge of their own happiness, but I'm not making it happen for them" and that's precisely the problem, you can't give all that much to that many.

Oh there were some really questionable bits in there so far (think: we don’t need better policies to support families, we just need to bring back good old religious power over the cultural and institutional landscape)
She makes fascinating observations, but then seems hell-bent on interpreting them through the lens of her catholic alma mater. Arguments fall so flat, it makes my skin crawl.
