How can a character be so self aware and insightful and yet at the same time be the absolute stupidest fucking idiot that ever walked the earth.

Have you ever read something that was so terrible that it made your ears physically ring? Yeah, me neither, until I read the chapter "Quarrel" in The Golden Fool by Robin Hobb. A chapter so irrevocably damaging to the rest of the entire series that I genuinely have trouble wrapping my mind around it.

I struggle having to stay with Fitz right now. For the past 30 pages it has been a chore to keep reading.

Someone take me out of here, I can't take this anymore
