Mingus laying down a very similar philosophy to Almanac of the Dead right here - "The white man isn't really together with his own people - to think so is overestimating his power. This book really dips in quality but then it comes right back in moments like Charles' confrontation with his mother or him trying to explain to a girl how he tried to will himself to death through meditation
