Ok, someone needs a thesaurus because I'm sooo sick of reading, "hiss, spat, seethed, demanded, growled." The dialogue is sooooooo choppy and people interact like robots. Even SIMS have more fluidity than these characters. Also, how am I halfway and still have no clue why anything is happening?

Inconsistent use of conjunctions pisses me off too!! Don’t say “do not” in one sentence but “don’t” in another. They’re trying hard to talk formally but then they slip up and talk normally.

I have so many issues with this already. Emmeline asks other girl, "Why are you telling me all of this?" Two lines prior, Emmeline asks girl a question about why things are the way they are. Like honey, you literally asked and she's telling you.
The way the dialogue is is sooo choppy. "Well, things are just hard right now." "Why are things hard?" Riveting.
