I’m enjoying this so much more than I expected to. I think in part because Thoreau’s personality comes through so strongly and he makes me laugh. He’s the most abstemious person I’ve ever come across, even more than my mom who has the most mild appetites for stuff and food of anyone I’ve ever met. It makes me really curious about Thoreau’s cultural context so I think I’ll read the intro now.
