Very very explicitly explaining the parallel being drawn between Sappo and Lucy…I am appreciative because I didn’t see the connection

On one hand is good that she’s so self-aware of how male centered she is but on the other hand, it’s not because she’s miserable

Lucy, the protagonist, is the definition of male centered. I believe this is the crux of her sadness and that she cannot admit exactly how limiting it is to be defined by the male gaze. She thinks she is lame and discredits her academic work because she is unlucky with men.
