Oskar throws his drum, and himself, into his (presumptive) father's grave, and begins to grow. This hit me hard. What absolute mastery. What an imaginative story, crazily and ingenuously written. What is left for mad Oskar? Let's see.

Ah. Yes. Originality, absurdist inner logic, humor, poetic feeling. Literature is back! Nice to be engaging it again.
