Getting some racism thrown in at the end of this disaster.

This thing is infuriating.

I don't know how the author could possibly lay on the "noble warrior" schtick any heavier.

The whole underlying concept of this book seems increasingly unlikely and is undermined by everything in the author describes in the text.

I feel like the author does not have a strong enough grasp of some of the science involved to pull this book off.

Adolescently pining over a former lover from many years before in the middle of a war is not an appealing subplot.

Giant leaps and gaps in the plot. It feels like whole chapters are missing. And absolutely zero character development.

This often feels like there's another book before it in a series that I didn't read, and it's struggling hard not to be YA.

A completely undefended civilization does not seem compatible with human nature, at least not in the near future of this setting.
