Each page introduces a new 'hero' in the fight against a disease that seems to be targeting the gay community in particular. Names that would change the 'face' of this disease come into focus and then just as quickly blur with their passing. Not an easy, but required read so as to remember the fight and so many valiant lives lived and lost.

Inspired by the documentary of the same name, I was curious to see if the book would delve deeper, expose a more personal side to the men and women who fought so valiantly, and those lucky enough to have survived, continue to fight the war against this most ravaging plague of our time. France combines scientific litany with everyday voices that pierce to the very heart of our collective consciousness.
