feelings at the end of part 2;
holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck. how is it so slow but still so crawling in a still brilliant way, in the same way a day can feel so long but a year like a blink. i feel a deep love for these children and the space they inhabit and the scars of a land beaten and trodden

end of part 3 feelings ;
omg enda wtf. but also the moment when tomás realises his daughter is a person and could have carried on his legacy if only he had seen and taken her willingness and taken it up instead of trying to force the unwilling son - phina sends her off and gives her the taste of the world. i feel attached to the autistic coded eugene. and rose? all left behind by her siblings choice

end of part one feelings;
i forgot how brilliant she is. i'm so sucked in i can't stop thinking about it. i had reservations cos unlinke the other two historical novels this one is more focused on men and my immediate instict was that idk abt men. mixed feelings about the lack of chapters though - the ebb and flow of the story is so present but i think chapters help mark progress and keep things straight. idk.
