Ugggh, I love the concept and the world, I like the set up, it's all super interesting, but the first time they have sex, there are *10 paragraphs* with the murderous vampire who kidnapped her confirming consent and the entire scene lost all its steaminess. Combine that with the heroine making huge assumptions and refusing to communicate with them and the book is going down hill.

I felt the same!!! It can be a fine line, but over consent is a definite mood killer for me. Loved the beginning of this… but got bored and ended up DNF. Maybe I’ll get back to this one day. 😬

I just don't understand why so many authors treat heroines being petulant, irrational and fickle as some sort of feature! Aren't we trying to fight the stereotype, not reinforce it? It's definitely getting grating and boring to me at this point.
