This feels like a light novel even if it’s technically not. I think that’s my issue with a lot of translated novels (esp Japanese) is that the nuance / phrasing doesn’t translate well, so the prose sounds clunky. Eg. ‘He looked at her perplexed, as if he didn’t understand what she meant’ - it just ends up having so much telling that it’s hard to read
