Sometimes I can forget that I come from parents born & raised from the birthplace of hip-hop. How their disposition can sometimes–well most of the time, be abrasive. The way they dress, the music they listen to, the way they carry themselves–the way comebacks just roll off of their tounge. It's apart of their culture, & mine. People may find the typical nuyorican abrasive, but I think they just don't get our culture.

Now THIS is a memoir! I could only get through the first chapter mainly because it made me so sooo hungry. I have a feeling I might be crying the whole way through. Not because I can't eat the food through these pages–but because I know her story is going to be told so sooo beautifully.
