This would be a very strong cliffhanger under any context, but the fact that it involves real people? That only makes it hit harder.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to get a bit of tonal whiplash out of a very mundane, non-dramatic (so far), and non-embellished memoir, just about some guy's life, being told in comic book format with a bunch of cartoon mice. This doesn't even seem to have anything to do with the actual "plot", so the father's right about it maybe being unnecessary. But I'm still glad it got included.
