I liked Isaac’s first book a lot. And I’m sure this one will grow on me… but turning a - I don’t know - suburban day’s hike into a metaphor about biblical angels? Overdone.

This isn’t “On the Road.” This is “walking home and getting clam chowder in the snow.”

And the overarching theme of “Johnny Appleseed” is forced.

I hope it gets better.
