Beth starts to love Ed even more because their interests align and he doesn't push her to do things she doesn't want to. What a considerate man. Just like mine. Only my man doesn't read my mind. Ed, however, seems sus. Is there a bad guy among us? Lol! Sorry, I'm on weed right now.

Beth goes to meet Ed, who claims he didn't call so he could give her the opportunity to date around and meet other guys. The two of them then go on a date together.

Beth receives a male visitor, and responds with annoyance until she finds out it's Ed. She instantly gets dressed and goes to meet him. That's great!

Beth is back to school, though she and Alice have grown a little distant due to the final exam last year. However, Ed hasn't been calling her, and she's a little upset over it. She tries looking up his address but finds nothing but the street name. Alice, however, starts receiving envelopes in the mail with no return address. Coincidence, or related?

At the airport, Beth is disappointed when Ed doesn't come to see her off. But to her surprise, Ed calls her instead. He tells her she's strong and doesn't need him right now. When she says she'll go back to school, Ed admits that he loved her from the start. Then he tells her not to say anything, and that they'll have all the time in the world later, then hangs up. Rather interesting.

While Beth has a good evening, she can't sleep at night because of all the questions in her head. Aside from what we already saw, she doesn't know how Alice could have told him, how his menial job paid for his expensive car, and how he knew she was going home by plane. Now even Beth is starting to become suspicious. Unfortunately, she's beginning to fall in love with him.

Ed takes Beth out to dinner and once again shows that he can read Beth's mind. He orders exactly what she wants and points out his cigarettes are ones she dislikes. He encourages her to go back to college because she'll start enjoying it again, but rejects telling her about himself when she asks. Yeah, that sounds extremely fishy.

The day before Beth is set to go home, she's sitting on a rock outcropping while crying, then is discovered by Ed. Ed was working in Skowhegan when he met Beth's roommate Alice, who told him about Tony's death. Ed came right away and immediately starts comforting her. His story sounds a little fishy, given his ... abilities. Not sure I trust him.

The story of Tony's death is revealed: He was flagging traffic during roadwork when he was killed in a traffic accident. A kid (sober) driving a red Fiat crashed into him when his brakes failed because the brake lines had overheated and melted. Beth is secretly glad behind her depression, since her nightmare killed any chance she had of marrying Tony. This has to be Ed's doing!

Tony's coworker Danny Kilmer comes to Beth's apartment and delivers the news that Tony has died. Beth promptly faints upon hearing it. I'm starting to think this was Ed's doing. Come on, people! It's a Stephen King story!
