Book 1 was definitely more exciting but that was a function of the case. This case was a lot more insular given the nature of the crime. However, the story, the writing, the pacing, the characters all remain top notch. I’m giving this a 4* not because I didn’t enjoy it as much but because it a victim of the 2nd book syndrome. The high is never as good as the first one. Excellent book though. Jumping into Book 3!
