Of all the insufferable characters I have read in my life, Mabel must be taking the gold. She doesn't even have the redeeming benefit of a great writer to shift the perspective and make you sympathize with her. Ms Kashino, alas, is not that (yet). I am 50% done and I am wondering why I am keeping on reading. The arch of the character has no way out right now.
