I finally got back to this (and had to reread the prologue and Chapter 1), and I’m really, really unsure about it. The Dragon Baby Café was just mentioned - the author’s previous cosy fantasy series - and apparently it’s about the FMC’s sister-in-law. Now, I’m definitely wondering if I might not be the target audience for this. I don’t recall it being promoted as cosy, though.

I just read the prologue, and it felt very YA to me. Firstly, because the FMC is 17, has sneaked out of school, has a very overbearing family, and still calls her dad "Daddy," but also because of the writing style. I haven’t read any of the author’s other series since I’m not the typical cosy reader, so I can’t say if it’s simply her style. Chapter 1 seems to do a time jump though (regarding the age).
