Celaena and Sam have been free for a month. They have money struggles, so Sam resorts to underground boxing and Celaena disapproves. They have been sharing the bedroom in her apartment and have been dating, but didn’t reach that level yet. Tomorrow they are going to see Aro to ask if they can leave the Assassins Guild.

Celaena had killed the man who wanted to build safe havens for the slaves. Bardingale, his ex-wife who wanted him dead, is the one in cahoots with the king of Adarlan and wants a road for slave trade into the capital. Aro deceived Celaena; he also bought Lysandra’s Bidding (virginity) just to piss off Celaena. She paid off Sam’s debt, she moved into her new apartment with him— they are both free.

Sam and Celaena planned a fire and the assassination and everything went to plan—Doneval was murdered, you associate killed himself and burned some papers, she killed Philip— but as Philip died, he told her she knows nothing of what she just did. Celaena grows suspicious.

Celaena and Sam surveyed the sewer under Doneval’s for a way in. They decided to slip
in after a servant throws out the trash.

Sam told Celaena he’s leaving to live in the south. Celaena begged him not to go. He asked for a reason—she wouldn’t give it directly. Then he told her he loved her, for years, and she kissed him.

Celaena broke into Doneval’s house to find out how many pages of the document there were and she was captured. They put her in the sewer where they left her for dead. Sam found her, but failed to help her. He pulled out her unconscious body.

Sam obviously likes her. Celaena got the info for Donavel’s meeting.

She tried to get information on Doneval, but he is very guarded. Sam gifted her the music to the musical they watched last night. At the Harvest Moon party hosted by the ex-wife, Celaena saw that he only associated with women and decided to approach him.

Celaena loves the theater. She told Sam he’s handsome. She asked Sam to help her with the Doneval mission, a man who plans to expand the slave trade in Melisande.

Celaena got an assassin suit with built in blades and gadgets. Sam told her the price for his forgiveness from Arobynn was that Aro never lay a hand on Celaena again. She felt bad for all the bad things she said to him.

She is going to stalk Doneval (slave trader) by going to the theater—with Aro, Sam, and Lysandra.

Celaena returned home and Aro begged for her forgiveness. He gave her another mission to stop some slave trade happening in Adarlan. She saw Sam, but another girl, Lysandra, was touchy on him. She’s known her since they were 10 and she never liked her. She’s a courtesan.
