also i can't help it, does suzanne collins not know that raw potatoes can make you really sick? it's literally the only thing taking me out of the story. :/

i have like, full chills listening to this. i'm kind of glad collins hasn't written other stuff-- both because it would be really hard to subject myself to this kind of emotional pain over and over (see also, how long it took me to even read this one) and because it really drives home how she's writing with a purpose. she's trying to show us (americans) ourselves and she continues to do a piercingly good job.
