Yuck. I get that we hate a miscommunication trope and this is a twist ending on it. But yuck. Now she’s heard something hurtful and walked away / forgotten it before getting any sort of confirmation that it had been a misunderstanding. She didn’t ask him for clarification, or let him voluntarily explain. She didn’t even confirm what she’d heard. You stuck have to keep your eyes open.
