If psychoanalysis is merely reinforcing the repressive tendency of desiring production (which is social production), then Deleuze and Guattari seem to argue that the more prior repression seems to come from certain configurations of economic relations. I don't quite understand it fully, but there is an interesting genealogy of the desiring/social production relationship that they sketch out in part 3.

The key question: if the libido is a flow that produces, then why and when does it start to preserve?
Psychoanalytic theory and practice (but interestingly not Lacan's!) risks naturalizing this tendency of the libido towards preservation.
The schizophrenic offers a model by which the productive rather than conservative tendencies of the libido can be affirmed. But the practical execution of this remains dubious..
