If psychoanalysis is merely reinforcing the repressive tendency of desiring production (which is social production), then Deleuze and Guattari seem to argue that the more prior repression seems to come from certain configurations of economic relations. I don't quite understand it fully, but there is an interesting genealogy of the desiring/social production relationship that they sketch out in part 3.

The key question: if the libido is a flow that produces, then why and when does it start to preserve?

Psychoanalytic theory and practice (but interestingly not Lacan's!) risks naturalizing this tendency of the libido towards preservation.

The schizophrenic offers a model by which the productive rather than conservative tendencies of the libido can be affirmed. But the practical execution of this remains dubious..

Love is an act of courage that always begins from lowering one's self defenses and encountering one's vulnerability, then learning to bear that weakness without displacing it to external others. Love is thus strength and patience. I still have questions, though. How to tell when I really am experiencing emotional abuse, or it is just something I am hallucinating? Finished part 2. The dialogue between Kubi Takeo and Mrs Tsuda was the highlight for me. Compared to the first part, the tone feels a bit more ironic and comical. When I think about the clock with the Chinese zodiac on it in part 1, time seems to be something important in this novel. The descriptions seem to focus on the minutiae of particular moments that it feels like time in here is operating at microscopic scale.
