It took some time to get here because the beginning of the book seemed to be more about setting up the world and understanding what has happened. A bit confusing to be honest. But now we are finally into the main of the story and I find myself thoroughly entertained with the interactions of our FMC and one of the Horsemen. Their back and forth is quite fun.

I get why the FMC is making the choices she’s making but I don’t love them. Trying to not be totally annoyed by her as she was literally raised in a place that forced this point of view on her and I get the desperation of her choices. But it’s hard!

Interesting that the one she’s drawn to and seems the nicest is Oran - he’s Death of the four horsemen. I think the stereotype would be him being the scariest and yet he’s the one that values life and patience the most. Plus Death got some game lol.

In a bit of surprise given the book so far, there’s definitely some humor in this book. This is especially true when the horsemen are together. I think my favorite though is Pollock. The horse and sword thing crack me up.

A lot has happened in a very short period of time. I think it's jumping around timelines on me. I would have to go back and check. Assuming we're going to get into the meat of it now that the setup has been established.
