I do honestly think much of this Pride and Prejudice section could be cut. The moments that help set up Mary’s mindset a few and far between. I feel like I just didn’t need this much background on how lonely and unloved Mary is. (I also think making Mary be so unloved is kinda lame fanfiction ass shit)

the show hinted at how unloved she is, but the book is really making it very clear
