I've been absent a lot again. It's just been a rough year around here. We found out the week before Easter that our Mastiff (Baby) has bone cancer. So as you can imagine I've been a bit absorbed with the impact of that.

Sadly Brian, no. It's just a matter of managing her pain for a bit. We're giving her a last hoorah though. Every year we hold a cookout for all of our friends around mid-April, and it's this weekend. She has won the hearts of all of them over the years. So, they are happy that they're going to have an opportunity to see her, spoil her, and love on her one last time. She'll be thrilled with all the food she'll be "snuck" and the attention.
But we caught it too late, so Monday will be the day we say good-bye.
All of my sympathies. I have never had a dog in my life, but I know how heartbreaking it can be to lose an animal. I hope you can find some solace from your cookout and I'm sure your friends will be supportive. I wish I had a particular book to recommend to lift you up, but I can't think of anything at the moment. You and your family are in my prayers.

Thank you both. It was really difficult last week, but you do learn how to come to terms with it. Of course, tell me I said this on Monday when I'm blubbering my eyes out. ;)
