I dnf’d this two years ago and honestly kind of hated it, but the siren song of this beautiful cover is calling me to try again

So much exposition is happening through the mc's actual direct thoughts? Just rambling, italicized paragraphs of him thinking about information the book could just... tell me. Because it's a book.
