Half of the difficulty of getting through this is that the audience Mycroft is addressing is contemporary to his future society and not, y'know, us. The people actually reading it. So many things are implied to be titillating that just aren't and there's things he talks about that he doesn't find buckwild but I do.

This has just been one "well that seems horrifyingly exploitative" after another.
