Really, I believe that after Jason died, he taught him a lesson: being human is to be willing to give up everything you’ve got for what you love and what you care about. He truly changed his mindset and, instead of completing this quest just because he wants to be a god again, he is doing it for Jason, for crest, and for all of the sentient beings who left us sooner than we expected just for Apollo to succeed

Greater love has no one than this, the one that lay down his life for his friends.
The AMOUNT of times Apollo has been willing to sacrifice himself to save his friends is honestly wild, especially considering this is a former god, and that this is the same Apollo who fell on that dumpster what seems like a million years ago (barely 3 months ago).

Apollo pieces everything together and realizes that since they’re reconstructing the sibylline burned books, it would only make sense tarquin decides to show up just now, and maybe, even though its been too many years and she probably faded away already, just as Helios, there is still a part of the sibyl’s essence being dragged into life again by the emperors to take advantage of her resentment towards Apollo

They decided to go on this mini quest with Lavinia, Meg, and Hazel to find the tomb, get out the information they need, and come back without killing anybody. Apollo dreamt about the sibyl of cumae, how they were lovers, and after she got mad at him for making her live for as many years as there are grains of sand, Apollo cursed her on being ugly for as long as she’s alive.

Hazel and franks relationship’s changed since the last time we read about them. Hazel told Apollo that during the last battle, frank singlehandedly defeated an army of undead warriors, and also, frank told Apollo he wasn’t as afraid of dying as he used to be, and he even plays with his fire wood. This makes Hazel and Apollo quite nervous, especially because they don’t wanna lose him like they did with Jason.

Apollo is afraid Zeus gave him that birthday for a reason, maybe it’s because that would be the day he retrieves his godhood, or maybe it’s the day when he “went up in flames once and for all”. He is VERY afraid of death because so many people (or creatures?) around him have warned him they see death in his future (lupa, the sibyl of erithraea, ella, the list goes on

Lupa told Apollo he would be able to contact godly help through the sibylline books (which he dreamt about, he saw the sibyl selling 3 books to tarquin). He needs to explain his not-so-planned plan to the senate, which goes a little like, finding tarquin’s tomb, and then in 3 days, which also happens to be Lester’s birthday) face & defeat caligula’s army of ships with a wave of undead warriors

So now we kinda now what’s up w Apollo and Reyna: Apollo said Reyna was beautiful while Venus was seeing a picture of her, and she warned him not to try to even come close to her or make a move since no demigod could ever heal her (which kind of gives Apollo a tiiiiny bit of hope he might heal it cause he is now technically mortal), and also every relationship Apollo’s ever had has ended in tragedy

Much too heartbreaking I cannot keep reading this. We’re at jason’s funeral and Apollo was asked by lupa to idk what. Ella already told him this nonsense prophecy from Tyson’s back also

This book should be called “the trials of Apollo: Jason haunts the narrative” Really. Hazel herself realized the body in the coffin was his and her reaction is just too heartbreaking. Jason is getting a funeral and the legionnaires are building out the shrines and temples he had planned out on his diorama and sketches. What’s up with Reyna and Apollo?
