Such a lovely book but it ticks along at a slow and steady pace. At this point in the book I should be thoroughly captivated but instead I find I am only mildly amused. There is so much to appreciate here but not enough action to keep me reading.

Still going strong. Among the various episodes of domestic drama in the book are interspersed intelligent arguments of social policy, divisions of class etc. I quite enjoy these passages.

Sometimes I come back this and think, "Oh it is so lovely, how can I ever be bored of it." .... only 17 hrs of listening left!
