Wow, does part one end with a bang! Morrison has drawn out the richness of her opening scenes without throwing any of it away! I want to think a little bit more on what she is doing with Jack and the Beanstalk. I’m also curious whether I should be thinking of The Man Who Was Thursday when she writes about the Seven Days.

More linearly told than Beloved. More focused on a male perspective without neglecting female perspectives.
