Jess acquired us a class set of this book!! I’m hoping to maybe work it into a lit circle unit next year.

Thats why I read it c: idk if I’d be okay with kids reading it on their own because of all the racial stereotyping, I was thinking it could be taught alongside lessons about the school to prison pipeline. I’ve even considered it for my 111 class because of how heavy handed it is specifically with Rondell being a big black guy that’s illiterate, sometimes violent and also really good at basketball 😅. I haven’t taught the freshies in years tho so maybe they can handle it but I was thinking more whole class.
