Knowing how the story unfolds, was not enough to shield me from feeling the whole weight of Alice’s grief. It’s so poignant, so sharp. I feel it pricking my heart with an even greater force this time around, and I realized I am grieving both the tragedy of John and Alice alongside my inability to save them.
