What is this even supposed to be about? Man, I should have read Noble House first... damn it.

I am halfway through Clavell's third chonker in the series before I realized he doesn't describe, like, ANYTHING. It's almost entirely dialogue and exposition drops. I shouldn't like it - but, I still do, despite pretty much hating every character. But yeah, not describing where stuff is or what anything looks like is odd, I guess. Your imagination compensates for a lot.

Also: James Clavell really liked whores.
