It's just that people don't actually think this way, unless they have hardcore main character syndrome and it feels like a cringe tiktok. This is my first Elle Kennedy book, after having watched the first season of the show and the inner monologues always going out of their way to be so "hockey" is KILLING me.

One thing that always immediately pulls me out of novels like this is the over spoon feeding that happens around some characters. Like, we KNOW that Logan is a hockey player. He doesn't need to relate EVERYTHING back to that in some hyperbolic way. i.e. "I wanted to stab him with my skate and twist." In a hypothetical moment where normal people would default to a knife. "Her hand stuck to my arm like hockey tape.
