I'm a little irritated with the way these kids sound. No kids who were born in the 90s and teenagers in the late aughts sound the way that MDH has written them. They sound more like kids who grew up in the 60s and 70s, and I suspect that is because MDH grew up during that time period. Idk why it annoys me, but it does. This book reads more like it was written in the 60s or 70s instead of the late aughts.

Well, at least there was a mention of modern tech (a cell phone and YouTube), otherwise I would've felt like I was back in 1962.

Maybe it's just because I'm old, but the main character, Logan, is kind of a snob. Yeah, Arthur is a little annoying (okay, a lot), but Logan is a snob. Mary Downing Hahn writes great middle grade spooky stories, though.
