"Good morning starshine, the Earth says hello..." Song from Hair totally popped into my head as the Star Child is hovering over Earth in the finale. That's not a spoiler, because, if you haven't seen the film by now, that's your fault not mine. Good adjunct to the film, btw.

The internet wants me to believe that Project Hail Mary and Clarke's 2001 aren't similar but I see a lot of similar concepts. Anyway, honing in the finale.

As great as the film is, the HAL 9000 sequence in the book feels truly terrifying. The genius creation of Clarke in this narrative. Raised the book several notches from the YA Scholastic level it has been operating at most of the way.

The Monolith seems to be violating the Prime Directive, haha. Anyway, let's polish off this compact classic. I can finish this fast. I came into a second copy, which may be a sign from the monolith to finally read it. The movie makes more sense, in a certain sense, from this narrative.
