Jonathan K (Max Outlier) Hope you enjoy it..Tender Bar is good as well though significantly different from the film

Susan It's quite a story, Jonathan. I like the use of 3rd person when he's remembering his past and the wonderful, quirky conversations in the present w/ the hippie photographer and the cub reporter.

Susan Yes, I've read The Tender Bar and seen the film. He's a great writer.

Jonathan K (Max Outlier) Since you seem to like 'under the radar' authors, I'd recommend Brian Doyle who while no longer with us, was one of the more creative writers in publishing. "Mink River, The Plover and Martin Marten" are my favorites

Susan Thank you, Jonathan. I'll ck it out. I was happy to read in Sutton the reference to Pete Hamill, another great NY writer, saying his newspaper column helped Gov Rockefeller release Sutton. Wonder if that's true? Hamill wrote a fabulous book, Forever, one of my all time favs. A big book, starting in Ireland and moving thru time to Manhattan.
