Rick went back to his apartment after the job. His wife, Iran, told him that a little woman had come, grabbed the goat out of its cage and pushed it off the edge of the building. Rick figured that would be Rachael for some reason. He turned toward his parked car, hovered off and headed away from San Francisco.

Finished DADoES - Chapter 22
Rick spotted a toad moving near his car, gleefully like a kid, he caught and stored it in a cardboard box. He showed it to his wife after he made it back to his apartment. Under his wife's inspection, it was discovered that it was artificial. Crestfallen, Nick's gone to bed after his wife's request. Knowing Nick was devoted to the toad, his wife made arrangements to take care of it.

In confusion about his own identity, Nick flew to a fused-littered land near the Oregon border. He tried calling Dave for answers, but Dave was too unwell to answer his call. So he got out of his car and started climbing the hillside. Pebbles struck him on the way to the top. In a moment of shock, he realizaed mercer was his shadow, following him. He hurried back to his car.

As Rick arrived in the building, he found Isdore lingering in the garden. Isdore decided not to assist him, so Rick would have to help himself. In a moment of surprise, Mericer showed himself at the staircase and pointed out where Pris was. Rick retired it first at the stairs. Then Rick went to Isdore's apartment. With a minor firefight, he retired Mr and Mrs Baty.

As Isdore sat sullenly on his tattered couch, he entered a dream sequence in which weeds corkscrewed their way into the walls around him, and the familiar landscape appeared. Mercer showed up. Isdore asked him if what Buster said was true. Mercer earnestly told him they were. But that didn't change the fact that Mercer would always be there to lift him from his tomb. Isdore thanked him.

Isdore helped move the TV sets and clothing from downstairs like a slave, but he didn't mind. On the way back to his apartment, he found a spider. Buster Friendly was proving the whole Mericer experience was a swindle when he came back. Pris and Imgard decided to mutilate the spider as an experiment. At the moment, Isdore properly realised the androids really had no empathy.

He was the ninth person that Rachael slept with for this purpose. He was furious and attempted to kill her, proving that he could still do this job. But he couldn't.
