The story is quirky and charming and adorable and yet this "let's define the relationship" they have going on is too contemporary. I might as well be reading a modern romance in period costumes.
This is a carto9ny fantasy of course, and Emma already had modern sensibilities.I think we were all willing to overlook, but this is too much.
