Apparently, rather than teach her children to set healthy boundaries, her mom thaught her to be a doormat.

She usually didn’t speed, but under the circumstances, she made an exception.

This book could be 40% shorter if all the unnecessary descriptions were left out.

On the other hand, it’s not mentioned if she put on her outside shoes/boots in the mudroom (or was wearing them in the kitchen).
