"A problem is not necessarily unsolvable because it has remained unsolved."

I love that--the logic of it. I think this little scene touches on a foundation of doing science, good science at least: avoid making assumptions, avoid assuming you know any answers, avoid being dogmatic; just keep observing and questioning. Sometimes the questioning's all you'll ever have; answers may never come, especially accurate ones.

"...Can't anyone let past things be?"

"A thing is only past when it is done with," said Mr. Quin.

F. P. The "universe" may not contain any answers. It may be a far more dynamic place than humans tend to believe it is, where the supposed laws could be malleable and change and might have changed and been malleable in the past. I don’t think any of that’s clear, and new, odd events sometimes get discovered that seem to violate the supposed “laws.”

In my opinion at least, Agatha Christie was a very logical person, but then she supposedly did have some chemistry experience.

F. P. I'm at pg. 33--I finished the first story. It is clever, as is usually the case with Christie's stories. I didn't see the ending coming, and I like the way the whole thing unfolded, bit-by-careful-bit.

I won't update for every story in this because I think that would be too overwhelming for others who might be looking at my page! I just like to put some establishing-thoughts down early on.

I'll update when I find more things that I think are particularly interesting.

F. P. Well...I'm skipping the second story--right off the bat, something sick in it and the sexist stereotyping that Agatha Christie too often does. Both are big logic flaws in her writing and thinking!

Probably nobody's perfectly logical though lol. I'll move onto the next story. That's why I like collections--I can pick and choose.....
